The Cabin Fever Festival is one of Western Australia’s best-known winter events, held each July across the Margaret River Region, including Busselton, Yallingup, Dunsborough, Cowaramup, and Margaret River town itself. It transforms the quieter winter season into a lively celebration of food, wine, beer, music, bonfires, and local culture.
Originally launched in 2017 to boost tourism during the colder months, the festival has grown into a major regional attraction with more than 40–50 events spread over 10 days. The atmosphere is designed around “winter done well” — think roaring fires, hearty food, red wine, craft beer, live bands, and cosy indoor experiences.
Some of the festival’s signature experiences include:
- fireside winery dinners and tastings
- brewery parties and beer events
- live music nights and DJs
- family-friendly foreshore events
- quirky community favourites like the Cheese Toastie Battle
- themed events such as drag wine tastings and country-style closing parties.
