About

This is by far the best weekend in a country town! It is held every King’s Birthday long weekend in June. Every man and their dog flock to Casterton, Victoria! On the Saturday there are several ‘kelpie’ related activities - from the street parade to the Kelpie Triathlon event, including Kelpie Dash, Kelpie High Jump & the Kelpie Hill Climb. For those who are attending with other dogs, you can join in novelty activities held in the street! There are great stalls, yummy food, LOTS of dogs and overall a happy and great atmosphere. On the Sunday they have the Working Kelpie Auction. 
In 2021, a working dog sold for a new record - breaking $35,200!

    Wow!  How did I not know about this before?  Casterton is a lovely town with great camping by the river.  The Kelpie Festival is a must for all dog lovers. We are having so much fun and meeting lovely people in the process.  Thanks EdgeGuides for bringing this wonderful event to our attention.  It’s awesome.

    Been many times! Great event. Dog friendly. Get there early for the poet's breakfast and street parade. And stay for the Kelpie High Jump.
